Larry Johnson

Meet Larry Johnson: Army Chaplain and NOBTS PhD Student

Larry is currently a PhD student here at NOBTS. He is husband to Anna, a brand new father to Eden Grace, a bi-vocational pastor, and a chaplain in the Army Reserves.

After receiving my education and training at NOBTS, I cannot imagine doing ministry without my seminary experience. It has broadened the variety of ways I can serve the Lord and minister to people. That said, without the generosity of others, I do not see how theological education would have been possible for me.

Because of Southern Baptists and the Cooperative Program as well as donors who give above and beyond, I was able to graduate with my Masters (from NOBTS) without ANY debt at all.

A seminary education makes you face the reality that you don’t know as much as you think you know. That’s a humbling feeling, which is good, because God uses humble vessels.

Larry and Anna give of themselves in many ways. Anna as a pastor's wife, Larry as a current PhD student, both as parents to their new baby girl, and as Christians sharing the Good News in the Big Easy. Larry and Anna even go above and beyond through their commitment of giving back to NOBTS financially through the Timothy Plan. This plan of giving your graduating year helps keep tuition low for others seeking seminary education. With their participation, the Johnsons are inspiring the next generation of students to answer God’s call. Thank you, Larry and Anna!
